TCS interview questions
Most candidates arrive through NQT. The technical round leans on fundamentals rather than frameworks, and the HR round genuinely does ask about the service agreement.
The process
- TCS NQT — aptitude, reasoning, verbal and a coding section
- Technical interview — CS fundamentals, one language in depth, your project
- Managerial round — situational judgement, ownership, escalation
- HR round — relocation, service agreement, compensation
Technical fundamentals
Difference between an array and a linked list, and when you would pick each.
Explain OOP using examples from your own project, not from a textbook.
What is normalization? Walk through 1NF to 3NF.
Write a query to find the second-highest salary.
Explain the difference between a process and a thread.
What happens when you type a URL into a browser and press enter?
Project and experience
Explain your final-year project end to end.
Which part was hardest, and what did you actually change to fix it?
If you rebuilt it today, what would you do differently?
What did you personally write versus what your team wrote?
Managerial and HR
Are you comfortable relocating anywhere in India?
Are you willing to sign the service agreement?
Tell me about a deadline you missed.
Why TCS and not a product company?
Where do you see yourself in three years?
How to practise these
Read a question aloud with Answer Round AI listening on your microphone, and answer it as if the round were live. You get a transcript of what you actually said, a draft built from your own resume to compare against, and a saved session to read back. Work through one group a day rather than skimming all 15 in an evening.
These are question patterns, gathered from publicly shared candidate experiences and Tata Consultancy Services's published hiring process — not leaked question papers. Use them as practice material, and check the rules of any live round before using assistance in it.
